From Friendship to Family
Sometimes the best things come when we aren’t looking for them. Kristy and Travis’s story began at a small Lutheran school where Kristy was teaching. A mutual friend introduced them and encouraged them to exchange numbers. At the time, Kristy was a newly single mom of three, focused on creating stability and healing for her family. She wasn’t interested in dating. But, as life often proves, love has a way of showing up at just the right time. What started as a friendship filled with light teasing and inside jokes slowly grew into something real. From that foundation, a relationship formed and a beautiful blended family began.
The Journey to Huxton
Both Kristy and Travis had experienced challenges in the past when it came to pregnancy and birth. So when they found out they were expecting a baby together, the news brought both excitement and some worry. Kristy, already a mom of three with a history of miscarriages, felt overwhelmed. But Travis was there with steady support and encouragement through every step.
Today, Huxton is a happy and curious toddler who brings joy to the entire family. He’s not only deeply loved by his parents, but also by his big siblings, who have embraced him with open arms. Travis has stepped into his role as both a father and bonus dad with strength, humor, and a big heart.
Blending the Chaos (and the Love)
Kade is thriving in Boy Scouts and working hard toward his Eagle Scout rank.
Kayleigh is involved in Girl Scouts and has completed her first year of dance. She’s now leaning into cheerleading and doing great with her cookie sales.
Kolby is sharpening his baseball skills and has a strong arm when he’s not being the family comedian.
Huxton enjoys tagging along to all his siblings’ activities. He loves people watching, snacks, and soaking in the fun energy of the big kids.
The kids also participate in karate, building discipline and learning how to channel their energy in positive ways. Whether it's dance class, t-ball, Scouts, or schoolwork, there is never a dull moment in this household!
Mastering Life (and Education)
As if parenting four kids wasn’t enough, Kristy also decided to go back to school to finish her Master’s in Education. Add in karate practice, dance recitals, baseball games, and late-night homework sessions, and you’ve got a real-life superhero schedule! But even with all the hustle, this family finds time for each other. They love walks to the park, grilling out, playing games, and piling onto the couch for movie night. The secret to keeping it all together? Never stop laughing… and never stop finding new ways to lovingly annoy each other.
Looking Ahead
This family isn’t just busy—they’re thriving! They’ve built something strong, joyful, and full of love. And as they continue to grow, we know there’s so much more ahead for this incredible crew.
