A Love Story That Started with a Laugh
Sometimes, love finds us in the most unexpected ways. For Matt and Erica McInerny, it all began with a funny Instagram message from Matt. Though they didn’t meet right away, fate had plans for them. A few months later, at a mutual friend’s wedding, they finally connected. They danced the night away, and from that moment on, their story was set in motion.
Meet the McInernys
Matt and Erica are a dynamic pair, both dedicated to serving others in their careers. Matt is a sergeant with the St. Charles County Police Department, ensuring the safety of his community. Erica works as a Critical Care Transport Nurse for St. Louis Children’s Hospital, providing life-saving care for critically ill children. Their demanding jobs come with challenges, but they always prioritize time together as a family.
Life in Cottleville
The McInernys recently built their first home together in Cottleville, a milestone that marks the start of a new chapter for their growing family. Their home is full of life, thanks to their energetic and adventurous son, Jordan. Whether he’s bouncing around in his basement bounce house—his favorite Christmas gift from Santa—or attending his mini ninja warrior classes, Jordan keeps his parents on their toes.
Right now, he’s especially fascinated with National Geographic’s whale documentaries and Frozen 2. And when it comes to food, he has a simple but steadfast favorite menu: blueberries, carrots, apples, and the occasional treat from Chick-fil-A.
Shared Passions & Favorite Pastimes
Matt and Erica love making the most of their time together. They enjoy attending sporting events, exploring hiking trails, visiting wineries, and going to concerts. Travel is also a big part of their lives, though they have a small (but ongoing) debate—Matt prefers the mountains, while Erica is drawn to the beach. In the spirit of compromise, they usually end up by the ocean.
When they’re at home, their entertainment preferences reflect their personalities—Matt is a Lord of the Rings enthusiast, while Erica could happily watch Friends on repeat.
A Journey of Love, Loss, and Hope
While their family is filled with love and laughter, they have also experienced profound loss. The passing of their son, Noah, was a heartbreaking chapter in their journey. Though he is no longer physically present, his memory remains an important part of their family.
As they look toward the future, Matt and Erica hope to grow their family and are excited for what’s to come.
